Dear friends & ministry partners,                                                     June 29, 2015

We just returned home from a powerful time of ministry and great teaching! The annual Restored Hope Network (RHN) conference came to Lancaster PA, June 26 & 27. Garry was their emcee this year, and voted onto the Board of Directors for RHN. Melissa and Garry shared the story of God’s work in their lives from sexual and relational brokenness and their journey out of homosexuality. They also gave the message for a church in Lancaster on Sunday – a full and vibrant ministry weekend! Many of you were praying for us and we can’t begin to tell you what a blessing that is!

I’m sure you’re aware of the tragic (though not unexpected) news from the Supreme Court in a 5 to 4 decision that God’s design (Gen 1:26-27) and Jesus definition of marriage (Matt 19:4-6) was too narrow and bigoted and in need of redefinition by 5 members of the Supreme Court – forcing their decision to redefine marriage on all 50 states.

Another landmark attack on freedom was decided Thursday of last week, in a lawsuit against JONAH (a Jewish organization that was established many years ago to help men with unwanted SSA). The judge disallowed 5 out of 6 of JONAH’s expert witnesses from testifying because their testimony would have contradicted mainstream views that homosexuality is not a disordered condition – even for those experiencing unwanted same-sex attraction. There is an all-out war coming against the Church and against God’s image (and expression of that image) in the unique and complimentarity nature of male & female. Those of us able to attend the RHN conference were so grateful for God’s grace and leading as those dates had been chosen long ago – and the fact that we were all together for these two terrible decisions, was such a mercy. God is good! He also reminded us of Israel’s insistence for a king to rule over them so they would be like “all the nations”. In 1 Samuel 8:7 God tells Samuel the prophet “…they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me…” The rejection of God is nothing new and certainly these recent outcomes are only the latest expressions of human insistence to throw off all authority of the God who made us in His image – or to pretend that God offers full approval of our life-choices and pursuit of whatever makes us happy and agrees with how we feel about ourselves.

Actually, our greatest concern at Love & Truth Network isn’t the revolt from outside the Church (that’s to be expected), but from within – from those who claim Christ as Lord, but have set themselves up as the real Lord of their lives. This societal “veering off the road” away from godly principles has happened because the Church has largely been “asleep at the wheel”. Due to deep relational wounds and hungers, the vast majority of Christians have settled for tepid, shallow relationships, choosing instead to meet one’s needs with various worthless things and pursuits, even playing with pornography and all kinds of sexual immorality. In our addicted and lethargic condition we have assumed that Freedom of Religion would always remain in our country – not so. We are witnessing that erosion all around us. I believe God is using the culture to awaken a sleeping Church – calling her to rise up with powerful love and authentic truth. Still, God continues to rule over all these events. It’s so comforting to know that He remains completely in control and the outcome of all things is secure. Let’s partner with Him in His ongoing work of redeeming precious, brokenness lives… and never forget that our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of wickedness (Eph 6:12).

Increasingly, we’re finding ourselves on the frontline against the spiritual battle for the hearts and souls of men, women and children – as we work to equip Christian leaders to effectively minister in all areas of sexual & relational brokenness – and to reclaim the true gospel! Christ not only saves us from hell at some point in the future, but His sacrifice saves us from the power of sin today! Though we don’t walk perfectly, we can walk victoriously and live the good news of the true gospel, expanding His Kingdom authority. This is God’s call on every believer’s life! We can choose the blessing of being wounded-healers who move out in sacrificial love to share the truth of what people are actually aching for. We do this by living under His protection and authority – through a heart of submission and surrender – not by trying to remake God in our image or celebrating that attempt by others.

Garry and Melissa had the wonderful opportunity to be video-interviewed by Eric Hovind for the Creation Today program, just released on June 24th. Click this link to see an 8 minute video as well as an extended interview –  We would love to know what you think!
